Getting Started
What is Recappp?
Recappp is a personal life recap app that creates beautiful Spotify Wrapped-style summaries of your year. It automatically tracks your spending from email receipts, syncs with health apps, and organizes your photos to generate monthly and yearly recaps.
How do I get started?
Simply download the app and sign in with your Google account. You'll be guided through connecting your data sources (Gmail for receipts, Health app for fitness data). The app will then start analyzing your data and generating recaps automatically.
Is Recappp free?
Yes! Recappp has a free tier that includes spending insights, basic monthly recaps, and health data sync for the last 3 months. Premium plans (Plus at $0.99/year and Pro at $10.99/year) unlock unlimited history, all themes, and additional features.
What devices does Recappp support?
Recappp is available on iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices. We also have a web dashboard for viewing your recaps on desktop.
Features & Data
What data does Recappp track?
Recappp can track: (1) Spending - by reading transaction receipts from your email, (2) Travel - by detecting flight bookings and confirmations, (3) Health - by syncing with Apple Health or Google Fit for steps and activity, and (4) Photos - by analyzing photo metadata to create memory highlights.
How does spending tracking work?
We read your emails to find transaction receipts from known merchants (Amazon, Uber, DoorDash, airlines, etc.). We extract the transaction amount, date, and merchant name to create spending insights. We never read personal emails - only receipts.
What health data do you collect?
If you grant permission, we sync steps, distance, and activity data from Apple Health or Google Health Connect. This data is processed on your device and used only to generate your fitness recap visualizations.
Do you upload my photos?
No. We never upload your actual photos to our servers. We only read photo metadata (dates and locations) on your device to create memory highlights. Your photos stay on your device.
How accurate is the spending data?
Accuracy depends on the receipts in your email. We support thousands of merchants and are continuously improving our parsing. Some transactions may be missed if receipts aren't in your email or are in an unusual format.
Privacy & Security
Is my data safe?
Yes. We use industry-standard security measures including AES-256 encryption for stored data and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. We never sell or share your personal data with third parties.
What emails do you read?
We only search for and read transaction receipts and booking confirmations from known merchants and airlines. We do not read personal emails, conversations, or any other email content.
Can I delete my data?
Absolutely. You can delete specific data types or all your data at any time from Settings → Privacy. You can also delete your entire account. Deleted data is permanently removed within 30 days.
Do you comply with GDPR?
Yes. We are GDPR compliant and give you full control over your data, including the right to access, export, correct, and delete your information.
Who can see my recaps?
Only you can see your recaps by default. If you choose to share a recap, you control exactly what's shared. We never share your data without your explicit action.
Subscriptions & Billing
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan includes spending insights from email receipts, basic monthly recaps, health data sync, and access to the last 3 months of data.
What do I get with Plus ($0.99/year)?
Plus unlocks unlimited history, all visual themes, watermark-free sharing, and high-resolution exports.
What do I get with Pro ($10.99/year)?
Pro includes everything in Plus, plus all recap modules, premium export formats (video, PDF), priority support, and early access to new features.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your app store. On iOS: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Recappp → Cancel. On Android: Google Play → Menu → Subscriptions → Recappp → Cancel.
Will I get a refund if I cancel?
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies. Generally, subscriptions continue until the end of the billing period after cancellation.
Troubleshooting
Why aren't my transactions showing up?
Make sure Gmail is connected and you've granted the necessary permissions. Transactions may take a few hours to appear after initial sync. Some receipts may not be detected if they're in an unsupported format.
My health data isn't syncing. What should I do?
Check that you've granted Recappp access to Apple Health or Google Health Connect. Go to Settings → Connected Accounts → Health to verify the connection. You may need to disconnect and reconnect.
How do I connect a different Google account?
Go to Settings → Account → Sign Out. Then sign back in with your preferred Google account.
The app is slow or crashes. What can I do?
Try closing and reopening the app. Make sure you're on the latest version. If issues persist, contact us at support@recappp.app with details about your device and the problem.
